You trust your A/C to cool your house... now trust it to heat your water for free!

Right now you're paying the electric company to run your air conditioner to take heat out of your house and dump it in your yard.

While, at the same time, you're paying the electric company to make hot water for your shower, dishwasher, laundry, etc... Don't pay twice! The Aquefier® Heat Recovery Unit captures waste heat discharged from an Air Conditioning or Heat Pump system, and transfers that heat into a water heater tank, thereby creating low cost hot water for domestic use.

DIY Installation of Aquefier® on a Goodman Air Conditioning Unit (courtesy of Mark Whitnell, PE)

N/A For anyone looking to install the Aquefier® unit themselves, or to help their A/C tech with installation, this is for you:

  1. Remove the lower cover under the electrical capacitors to do the install.
  2. Use one long radius 1/2" elbow (from refrigeration supply) and bend tubing for the other long radius elbow.
  3. Add a piece of 1/2" polypropylene plastic about 2" x 3" with 2ea 1/2" hole for the copper hot gas to pass through for protection around the exit from the metal AC frame (not shown).
I first pumped down the refrigerant into the condenser, cut open the discharge line and soldered the mod. Finally, pulled a vacuum on the evap side and opened up the condenser. I have done similar to many a/c systems to replace the TX valves and seldom had to add refrigerant.
